Hello, my name is Keith, and I’m the person behind The Yorkshire Insider. I’m a local lad who has spent years walking the Dales, wandering the Moors, and hunting down the best fish and chips the Coast has to offer. My mission is simple: to give you honest, no‑nonsense advice so you can experience the real Yorkshire. No fluff, no marketing gloss—just practical tips, lived experience, and the kind of straight‑talking guidance Yorkshire folk are known for.
I was born and bred in South Yorkshire and now live up in North Yorkshire, which means I’ve seen this county from both sides of the map. Over the years I’ve travelled to almost every corner of it, discovering hidden paths, tucked‑away villages, quiet coves, and those special places that tourists often walk straight past. Yorkshire rewards curiosity, and I’ve spent a lifetime following that instinct.
Photography is one of my biggest hobbies, and it’s shaped how I explore the county. Through the lens, I’ve captured the rugged beauty of our peaks, the drama of the coastline, and the soft, rolling calm of the valleys. It means the guides I create are not only practical and honest but also visual—because Yorkshire deserves to be seen as well as described.
Now retired, with a background in heritage tourism, I understand what visitors want, expect, and appreciate. As a Yorkshireman, I expect value for money, and you’ll see that reflected in my reviews. Every place I recommend has either been visited by me and my wife in the past eight years or comes highly praised by trusted friends and locals.
